Disclaimer:
To offer Counselling to CYP you must be a qualified counsellor with specific training that supports competencies to offer a counselling service to CYP.
Completion of this course alone (without a L4 Counselling Diploma) does not fully equip a participant/graduate to practice as a qualified counsellor.
Completing this training alone does not lead to admission to the NCPS CYPT register, but it can be used to present with other relevant information and evidence to support a ‘portfolio route’ application.
Completion of this course alone does not equip students to work outdoors and with animal assisted interventions without appropriate insurance cover (we cover an introduction to these areas).
WHAT STUDENTS SAY ABOUT US!
"Taking part in this course has been one of the most enjoyable learning experiences I have had in recent years. The turors skillfully integrate theoretical and experiential learning processes. Contributions from course members are actively encouraged through their creation of a safe, supportive & nurturing environment - something else which sets this course apart from some others I've attended"
"This course has been extremely enjoyable and informative. The teaching styles of the tutors are perfect. I would highly recommend this course, I feel I have a greater understanding of and am better equipped to work with children and young people"
"I have really enjoyed this course, the tutors' individual approaches complement each other. I feel more confident now working with CYP and have a greater understanding of the issues affecting them. Equally, I feel much more connected to my inner child / young person which was an important and unexpected part of this course!
"Learning with DCT tutors has been an immensely positive experience. Their knowledge on the subject area is not just delivered in an informative, and immersive way, but the learning journey has also felt very collaborative with the tutors often sharing their own experiences or concerns in a way that makes you feel valued and worthy, and like we are all working towards a common goal, to be better therapists. With many opportunities for self and group exploration combined with interesting and engaging guest speakers thrown in, this course has exceeded my expectations. The course has encouraged and empowered me to feel more confident in working with children and young people."
